Sunbelt Solomon (“SBS” or “the Company”), a leading provider of customized electrical power solutions and services, today announced the appointment of Gus Cedeño as the Company’s new Chief Executive Officer. Cedeño succeeds Tom Smith, who will continue as Executive Chairman of the Board.
Cedeño brings an extensive track record of experience leading and growing businesses on a global scale to SBS. He joins the company following a seven-year tenure as CEO of SAE Towers Holdings, a leader in the manufacturing of power transmission steel structures, as well as engineering, procurement, and construction services.
“This is the ideal time for our team to transition to a new CEO. Over the past three years, SBS has successfully executed a merger and numerous acquisitions, resulting in robust growth and solidifying an industry-leading team,” said Executive Chairman Tom Smith. “After an extensive national search, we are excited to have Gus join as CEO. The entire Board has the utmost confidence that Gus’s energy, experience, and vision make him the right person to guide SBS to the next level. SBS customers and employees will be in excellent hands under his leadership.”
“Sunbelt Solomon is at an exciting moment in its evolution as a company,” said Cedeño. “It has established itself as a world-class provider of sustainability solutions and services to the electrical industry, and I look forward to building upon the team’s momentum to ensure we remain the partner of choice for our customers through best-in-class offerings.”
Earlier in his career, Cedeño served as President & CEO of Caterpillar Switchgear, a joint venture between Eaton Corporation and Caterpillar; Regional Vice-President for Eaton’s electrical sector; and Latin America Managing Director for Eaton’s Power Quality Division. Cedeño also held several leadership positions within Wood Group’s Gas Turbine Division and LAGOVEN, a subsidiary of Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA).
Cedeño earned an MBA in international business from the University of Houston, and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a specialization in power systems from the Polytechnic Institute of the Armed Forces in Venezuela.
