Providing Temporary Power to a Mining Operation

Solution For Mining Operation

The Client

Established in 1995, our client provides a range of electrical and instrumentation construction and maintenance services. They offer 24-hour support, employ more than 1,300 individuals, and operate a fleet of 700-plus service vehicles. They proudly support all facets of the commercial and heavy industrial sectors and can be involved in every project phase to ensure smooth transitions from construction to commissioning.

The Challenge

Our client reached out to Trinity Power with a request for a temporary power solution for one of their mining customers. They didn’t have any electrical infrastructure available and were looking for a 3000A 480V distribution package to meet site water filtration requirements. Without the proper electrical equipment, their customer’s project could not start, which would impact budget, deadlines, and reputation.

The Solution

As a service-oriented team, we quickly rose to the occasion to create a solution to enable the mining project to start. We proposed a 15kV 600A fused disconnect, 3125kVA 13.8KV-480V transformer with NGR, 4000A adjustable breaker, 3000A ATS, 3000A distribution panel and 2MW standby generator complete with camlok cabling. This solution provided power to the site loads and also included a standby generator and automatic transfer switch to ensure there is backup power in the event of an outage. We had the required equipment on hand and were able to coordinate delivery to the job site within the required timeframe, enabling work to start.

The Result

Trinity Power specialists were able to provide a project-specific solution, the rental package and coordinate the logistics within a short lead time. This allowed the project to start, saving money and energy. Our client, and their customer, were both thrilled – and work continues at this job site. We know how to customize technical support – and we are experts at designing power solutions to help our customers when they need it the most. We are happy to be the “go-to” resource for temporary power solutions.
